In another gang rape case reported here within a week's time a 42-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men in Landhar village of Panchari on Friday, February 7.

The case comes close on the heels of the two sisters, who were gang raped by two youths inside a shop here on February, in which the accused are yet to be arrested.

According to reports, the woman in her complaint to the cheif judical magistarte Udhampur, on Saturday, has alleged that she was returning back home after buying stuff from a nearby shop, when Kala Surama and Khalial Singh, the two accused, stopped her and took her to a nearby jungle, where they allegedly raped her.

The victim alleged that she had approached the Landhar police, but after their refusal to lodge an FIR, she moved to the Panchari police.

"Instead of lodging an FIR, the Panchari police tried to hush-up the case and returned me back, after which I moved an application before the chief judicial magistrate for the registration of an FIR, on Saturday," victim added.

On contacting the Panchari station house officer (SHO) Harminder Singh on Sunday, he said no one had approached him or had filed a written complaint in the connection.

However, he admitted he has received a complaint marked from the magistrate, with the direction to investigate the matter.

Denying all the charges levelled by the victim, SHO said he had started investigation in both the rape cases.

This was the second alleged rape case reported in the area within a week's time, and in both the cases the victims have alleged police inaction and has approached the court for registration of an FIR.
