The four month-long music extravaganza, HT Friday Jam @Cyber Hub, came to a smashing end with an evening the 400-strong crowd is not going to forget anytime soon. From Man Goes Human’s bravos, Squarez Atttached’s technical prowess to Slapdash Travern’s classical jazz, the evening had it all.

Out of the 30 corporate bands that initially participated in the competition, Man Goes Human was adjudged the best band by the Sufi band Faridkot, and awarded Singapore-return tickets.

The aural evening brought a much-needed respite to the music scene of Gurgaon. The opening non-competing band, Yogantra, started the evening by whipping the crowd into frenzy.

The blues and rock & roll band Slapdash Tavern’s bassist, Archit Agrawal, said, “We don’t believe in covers; originals only for us.”
The winning band Man Goes Human’s 17-year-old vocalist Aditya Paul had the crowd grooving along to their cover of Bruno Mars’ Locked Out of Heaven. Their band manager TeeJay said, “We are more about what the crowd wants.” Bassist Shitij Gulati added, “We perform anything from experimental rock to alternate music.”

Squarez Attached were awarded the runner-up prize. Vocalist and lyricist Priyanka Stafford Nongkhlaw said, “Ours is a hard rock and classic rock kind of a band.” Noble Luke, the emcee who handled the initial stages of the Jam, said, “The HT Friday Jam attained such popularity because it gave opportunity to the talent behind the desk.” Faridkot’s IP Singh said, “We judged the bands on the basis of their tightness, instrument sounds, interaction with the crowd, the feel and the overall involvement of the band.”

Sahil Mendiratta, the drummer of Faridkot, quipped, “This competition is the result of a transformed India, the kind which is saying bye to old and welcoming the new.”
