Three security personnel, including a police officer, were injured in an encounter between the police and Maoists at Bakrakocha Pahar area in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Wednesday.

The encounter took place when the police and CRPF personnel were on a patrol to flush out activists of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), police sources said.

The ultras started firing at the patrolling party when they saw them approaching. The security personnel immediately retaliated, forcing the Maoists to flee, they added.
