While Aamir Khan refused to speak to the press, we got an insight into
the actors hopes for the film during his interactive session with
the audience at INOX, City Centre. Excerpts from the tête-à-tête.
Having done patriotic films like Sarfarosh, Lagaan and Mangal
Pandey, what lured him to the script?
Its a brave effort on the directors part as well as that
of Ronnie (Screwvala, the producer). I had to be part of such an effort.
I am proud of being part of such a film.
How far is patriotism weaved in the script of Rang De Basanti?
It is the story of each individual and how he stands up for the countrys
sake since patriotism is an important part of the subject. It is the story
of the youth.
What about your new look for the film?
Its an urban look. And I am glad that after my looks in Rang
De Basanti people are saying I am looking younger with every passing day.
On working with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
He narrated the script with a lot of conviction. I was very interested
in the story. It was great working with him and I hope to work him again.
