New fireworks in the market
Deepti Kaul (HindustanTimes.com)

Diwali is here and who doesn't like a rocking and sparkling Diwali, with lots of fireworks and crackers. Crackers hold a fascination for both young and old alike.

On the dark night of Diwali, crackers dazzle the sky with colour and light. From a few rupees to a hefty sum - there are all kinds of crackers accessible to all.

So, we headed towards Sadar Market of Old Delhi to find out what kind of crackers are going to hit the market this Diwali season. Like always there is a huge demand for traditional firecrackets such as the anar, chakri, rocket, phuljadi and patakas, as the shopkeepers suggest, but like every year, this year too there are exciting new additions to look forward to.

Here we go...
Merry go round: It is a kind of rocket shoots up into the sky and and forms fire circles, like the chakri.
Joy 240: This is a pretty long lasting cracker. As the name suggests it glitters 240 times in the night sky.
The other crackers to look out for are:

Merry go nights
Tri colour Net-120
Fantastic 36
Traffic 180
Enjoyment 1000
Jolly jungle
Boomer 37

A word of caution though. These crackers can burn a hole in your pocket. For instance the Joy 240 costs Rs 2000/- and the Enjoyment 1000 is for Rs 6750. Don't let your Diwali enthusiasm turn into tears of regret when you check your accounts post-Diwali.

Also it is essential to remember that while you indulge in the festivities there could be people around you who could be badly affected by the noise and smoke - babies, the elderly, pregnant ladies. Exercise restraint.

Don't burst crackers between 10 pm and 6 am, as mandated by the Supreme Court. Everything is good in moderation and a celebration is a celebration only when it spreads joy and happiness all around - not joy for you and pain for some.
