Dhoom 2 at No. 17 in USA

Well, Bollywood has not just come of age, but it's obviously revelling in it, too.

One can easily make this claim judging by the popularity of Dhoom 2, which debutted at number 17 in the USA. Considering that this is the third largest opening for any Bollywood film ever, the Indian film industry has a lot to feel excited about.

This is also the largest opening for a non-Shah Rukh Khan film.

New York Times reviewer Rachel Saltz wrote: "The pleasure principle is palpable in the giddy, slick Dhoom 2, a satisfying examlpe of the new, thoroughly modern Bollywood". Ms Saltz also gushed that though the film represents new-fangled Bollywood, it's old-fashuioned star power is what animates and elevates it above its occasional narrative flaws.
