Kidnap saga of Anant

The return of Adobe CEO Naresh Gupta's son Anant came as a major relief to not only his parents, but also to his teachers and friends (in his school) who had given up Children's Day celebrations.

This toddler was abducted outside his house in Sector 15 A, Noida, on his way to school, sending shockwaves through the national capital. In a dramatic turnaround, Anant was returned by one of the kidnappers who left him back at his doorstep.

In a press conference, things became clearer after police said they had successfully nabbed one of the kidnappers who revealed to a shocked media about a modus operandi which included picking up the kid from this 'rich' locality of Noida.

Sector 15 A is one of the most affluent hubs of Noida and houses two former Cabinet Secretaries, a former chief secretary of UP government, four former DGPs, and a number of serving and retired bureaucrats. The Noida SSP office and the police control room are less than half-a-kilometer from the colony.

Following this incident, parents became paranoid about sending their kids to school in public transport and preferred driving them personally to school. This incident reflected rising crimes in Noida.

Slowly, police revealed some rather shocking statistics - 12 murders, 53 cases of theft, 45 cases of chain snatching and 15 incidents of looting in Noida alone.

Residents are blaming police for their 'uncooperative' attitude and say that anti-social elements roam freely at night, drinking in parking lots and cars.
