  The Tournament

Polo is a Sport associated with Tradition, class and money. A ‘Royal Sport’, Polo has now shifted from being the exclusive domain of Indian Royalty and is now also patronized by an elitist crowd from various Business and Corporate Houses, who have been instrumental in turning it into a Sport that spells big money e.g. The Hindustan Times Polo Tournament

Polo, therefore, now attracts spectators that range from the Royalty, Socialites, Polo players and their families to industrialists, Embassy officials and members of the Indian Armed Forces. Traditionally, a Polo Tournament is followed by a High Tea to which are invited all the players, their patrons and other personalities associated with the game.

The Hindustan Times has been associated with the game of Polo for the past 5 years. A highly spirited, competitive sport Polo differs from any other sports in its spirit, a spirit reflected in the dignified bearing of the players and their scrupulous respect for the rules. In this sense polo is not just a sport, but a lifestyle. This reflects the true spirit of the Paper and hence a perfect match.

The HT Polo event is one of the most widely attended polo finals and has people from all walks of life be it Corporate, Artistes. Diplomats, the Fashion Fraternity and the local Socialite. The final game begins with an exhibition match in which the two brands of the paper are represented – HT and HT city. There are two teams that participate and its what they call a friendly game. The Corporate colours and logos are worn by both the teams. The Polo trophy is very impressive and is a running trophy for the past four years. We have been lucky in the past to have dignitaries like late H.H.Mr.Madhav Rao Scindia , Mr. Natwar Singh , Mr. Arun Jaitely and Mr. Vinod Khanna. Celebrities like Mrs. Sridevi Kapoor have also attended the function.
