When
the news of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) worker MR Kutty's murder, following
his abduction, along with three others, in Afghanistan, reached India, it was
received with much anger -- in the establishment -- and shock -- in his Kerala
home. The government's indignation over his brutal killing burst out in
the open with India even directly accusing Pakistan of conspiring with the Taliban
forces in the brutal deed. The Zaranj-Delaram road, on which Kutty was working
and which would connect the area to the Garland highway of Afghanistan when it
is completed, will reduce Afghan's dependence on Pakistan substantially. Kutty's
body was found, with slashed throat and a note saying that India should quit Afghanistan.
According to analysts, it is not a message from the Taliban, but
from Pakistan, through the Islamic militia, not to get unduly involved
in Afghanistan.
Though
Indian government sent a team to review security for Indians involved in the reconstruction
of Afghanistan, it will take some time before the latter sees the back of terror
in the war-torn country. |
