The spectre of tsunami came back to haunt Indians. Post the December
26 earthquake in Indonesia that resulted in massive waves hitting
India's southern states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, experts have been
warning that another tsunami could just be a matter of time.
There were reports that the next tsunami would occur
in the Arabian Sea, a result of which was the false tsunami scare in Mumbai which
claimed 18 lives.
Other experts opined that another quake of the similar magnitude
would occur in the same place in Indonesia.
As if this was not enough, the country feared the worst about its
superstar. The fear of evidence of H5N1 in migratory birds reaching
India and in chickens also put people on the back foot.
Amitabh Bachchan's sudden illness in the last week of November
had the entire nation praying that a repeat of 1983 doesn't happen.
Bird Flu again came to haunt Indians, as large number of migratory
birds died in China and South-East Asia.
