It was not just a bus; it cemented the fragile peace process between
India and Pakistan.
Opening of roads, linking the two halves of Kashmir was a major
breakthrough in the long quest for peace between the two neighbours.
On February 16 in Islamabad, External Affairs Minister, Natwar
Singh, and his Pakistani counterpart, Khurshid Kasuri, agreed to
"impart momentum" to the "composite dialogue"
started a year ago. But this time there was some momentum.
Both agreed to open, a bus route between Srinagar, and Muzaffarabad,
capital of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir from April 7.
The decision suggests that the peace process launched by former
prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in April 2003, is back on track.
