The inimatable Asha was in the news this year with a second-time
Grammy nomination for her album titled You've Stolen My Heart-
Songs from R D Burman's Bollywood in the 'best contemporary
world music album, category. The album is in collaboration with
Kronos Quartet. The Grammy Award ceremony will be held in Los Angeles
in February 2005.
The 72-year-old popular Bollywood playback singer, who made her
Hindi film debut with the song Saawan aaya for Hansraj Bahls
Chunariya, has sung over 12,0004 songs in 14 languages, including
English and Russian.
She is considered one of the most versatile singers of South Asia.
In 1997, she became the first Indian singer to be nominated for
the Grammy Award for Legacy, an album with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
