Ridiculed by NDA as the weakest Prime Minister of India, Manmohan
Singh emerged out of the shadow of Sonia Gandhi to become a key
player in 2005.
Known for his forthright and honest approach to polity, he received
glowing tribute from President Musharraf during his visit early
this year.
He pushed the peace talks with Pakistan, offering a slew of CBMs,
the Peace Bus being one such.
India's favourable position vis-a-vis the US was further strengthened
with Manmohan Singh and Bush inking the civilian nuke deal in Washington.
Finally, Prime Ministers apology for the 84 riots has
added to his stature. It was an act of statesmanship. In sharp contrast,
none of his predecessors exhibited such strength of character and
magnanimity of heart.
