In news for all the wrong reasons, Sourav Ganguly was very much a newsmaker this year.

During the Zimbabwe tour of India, the cold vibes between coach Greg Chappell and skipper Sourav Ganguly first came to the fore.

First to stoke the fire was Ganguly who carelessly told a TV channel that Greg didn't want him in the team.

A worded battle ensued between the two thereafter. Soon after, Greg's e-mail to BCCI accusing Ganguly of having a 'bad influence' was leaked out to the press.

It created a furore that actually hurt Ganguly's image badly and resulted in his exclusion from both the Test and ODIs.

India's commendable performance in ODI series against Sri Lanka meant that his inclusion became even more difficult. His controversial inclusion in the Chennai Test raised a storm yet again.
