Asha nominated for Grammys

Playback legend Asha Bhonsle, for the second time, was nominated for the prestigious Grammy Awards 2005. In 1997, Asha's album "Legacy" with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan had been nominated for the Grammy award.

Seventy-two-year-old Asha Bhonsle was nominated in the category of 'best contemporary world music album. Asha Bhonsle's album in collaboration with Kronos Quartet titled You've Stolen My Heart -- Songs from RD Burman's Collection is in the race on category 73.

Bhonsle had performed with the Grammy winners, Kronos Quartet, at Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco, US, on September 22 and 23. The concert called India Calling had Asha singing the revived versions of compositions of renowned composer and her late husband RD Burman. India Calling concert was part of YBCA’s commitment to supporting Bay Area artists who are heading in new directions and exploring exciting new collaborations.

The award function is slated for February 2006 in Los Angeles.
