It was the most extravagant wedding of the year and almost like a fairytale wedding - the wedding of Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor and industrialist Sunjay Kapur on September 29, 2004. For Karisma, the wedding would have been an event to look forward, coming close on the heels of her break up with Abhishek Bachchan.

But it was not to be. Rumours of a rift between the two started floating in late July 2005 when Karisma, who had gone to visit her parents in Mumbai with her seven-month old daughter Samiara, did not return home.

While some sources alleged that Sunjay and Karisma were not able to reconcile their differences there were insiders who claimed that the former actress learnt of her husband dating someone else at Delhi's hot spots and the couple accepted that divorce was perhaps the only way out. It was also believed that the bone of contention between the couple was that Karisma wanted to stay in Mumbai, but Sunjay wanted to stay in Delhi.

However, after the situation got worse with the matter reaching the court (Sanjay had apparently filed a case against Karisma forbiding her to take their seven-month-old daughter Samaira out of the country ) and due to acute media intervention, the couple decided to sort things out. Eventually, Karisma moved with her daughter to her husband's home in Delhi.

All fans and all those following the event on the front page of most papers must have heaved a sigh of relief.

Now, here's to a happily ever after...
