The
fruits of democracy have never been so overpoweringly sweet for the people of
Bihar. After over a decade of jungle raj, Bihar stands reassured - democracy
is of the people, for the people and by the people. On November 22, when
Bihar broke free of the Lalu-Rabri Raj, not only the people there heaved a sigh
of relief, the entire nation looked delighted. The 15-year rule had made
the state synonymous with crime, casteism, corruption and backwardness. It did
not rein in feudalism either (the Jehanabad massacres). Let's hope the new
government (NDA) rights all that's wrong in Bihar
and, it's not too late
before the nation's political stage calls for curtains down on Lalu's histrionics
(he is still the Union Railway Minister). |
