New Delhi , March 31, 2007 : The second day of the HT Mint Luxury Conference 2007 got of to just as marvelous a start as the first day. Where day one witnessed representatives from Louis Vuitton, Comite Colbert, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Jean Paul Gaultier, Piaget, Altagamma, and Salvatore Ferragamo; day two saw representatives from Lladro, Hermes International, Gieves & Hawkes Plc, Fratelli Rosetti and a host of others from the international and domestic fashion fraternity.

Opening the day's session, Mr. Alain Viot , CEO and MD, Lladro said, ‘Luxury today means more of innovation in quality. There is a constant need for change while not betraying the quality'. Mr. Christian Blanckart , EVP, Hermes International emphasizing on the same added, ‘Luxury is based on Quality, Truth and Signature'.

Mark Henderson , CEO, Gieves & Hawkes Plc who spoke on bespoke tailoring said, ‘Fashion is something that comes and goes, while luxury stays forever'. He also expressed his vision of expanding his clientele particularly in Asia .

The post lunch session was addressed by Ms. Odile Roujol , General Manager, Lancome International and Ms. Ritu Beri , Ace Indian Fashion Designer. Odile spoke about how luxury brands, especially a cosmetic company like Lancome, modify their products to suit the market, ‘We have made modifications in the products as well as offer exclusive shades to blend with Indian needs'. Ritu Beri commenting on the increasing indulgence in luxury goods in the country said, ‘Luxury is no longer an occasion but an everyday acquisition. Let's make Indian luxury a force to be reckoned with'.

Mr. Didier Grumbach , President, Federation Francaise de la Couture, du Pret-a-Porter des Couturiers et des Createurs de Mode said, ‘Look after your young designers, nurture them, help them grow, protect your heritage; that's what we need to see India develop luxury brands'.

Ms. RadhaChadha , author of ‘The Cult of the Luxury Brand' speaking on Asia's Love Affair with Luxury said, ‘There is nothing short of a Luxe-plosion that is rocking Asia- carrying in its sweep not only the wealthy, as one might expect, but also people from all walks of life. Rolex, Burberry, Tiffany, Armani- these have become an everyday reality for millions of people across Asia '.

Other speakers of the day included Mr. Diego Rossetti , Chairman, Fratelli Rossetti; Concetta Lanciaux , Strategic Luxury Goods Advisor, Sr. Advisor to the Chairman, Groupe Arnault; Mr. Christian Louboutin , Luxury Shoemaker; and Matteo Cordero di Montezemolo , MD, Charme Investments and VC, Poltrona Frau Group.

The two-day conference full of glitz and glamour came to an end with a vote of thanks from Mr. Rajeev Verma, CEO, HT Media Ltd
