Ajay Dua Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Government of India |
Dr. Dua joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1971. Thereafter he held a variety of senior assignments in the Government of Maharashtra and the Government of India, including Managing Director of Industrial Promotion Corporations. He was also the CEO of Housing and Area Development Authority, Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Power, Director General, Employees' State Insurance Corporation. Since July 2005, he is Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. He has also worked as an industrial consultant in the Solomon Islands on behalf of the Commonwealth Secretariat, UK. Dr. Dua has a strong academic background. He is a graduate in Economics from St. Stephens' College, Delhi. He then pursued his M.Sc (Eco) course at the London School of Economics and Politics. He completed his Ph.D from the University of Bombay. He holds diplomas in Business Administration, Marketing Management and the Russian language. Due to his significant work experience in the Electrical industry and in promoting industrial activities, Dr. Dua is currently responsible for formulation of industrial policy, intellectual property issues and catalyzing investment, both domestic and foreign. |
