Christian Blanckaert
Executive Vice President, Hermes International (in charge of International Affairs)


Mr. Blanckaert has been the Chairman and CEO of Hermès Sellier, the main subsidiary of the Hermès Group since January 1996. Christian Blanckaert is also Chairman of the board of the French National school of Decorative Arts (ENSAD), and Mayor of Varengeville-sur-Mer.

During his career, Mr. Blanckaert has served as Consultant with the Boston based consulting firm, Harbridge House (1971-1976), he was Managing Director of the "do-it-yourself" chain "Bricorama" (1976-1981), Chairman and CEO of Thomson-Distribution (1981-1984), Managing Director of the SCAC Group (1985-1988) and President of the Comite Colbert (1988-1996) which groups 70 French luxury companies.

Christian Blanckaert has also written three books, Roads to luxury (1996), Portraits en clair-obscur (2001), and a biography on "Roger Salengro" (2004).

Born on July 9 th 1945, married, two children, he has graduated from the Instituut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, and from the Faculty of Law of Paris. Christian BLANCKAERT has an MBA from INSEAD.
