India's biggest fashion extravaganza, showcasing
44 designers in the fashion capital Mumbai, has forecast a "cutting
edge" look for the coming winter season.
"The look is all about cutting edge, a little like Charlie's
Angels and a slice of Cyber Cafe," Rajiv Goyal, creative director
of Trend Forum, a participant at the second India Fashion Week,
said on Thursday.
"From here, buyers get an idea about what they can expect from
the designers," said Goyal showing a range of swatches, accessories
and designer clothes.
Designers said "reality clothes" or everyday wear would
no longer be plain or simple in the winter season between November
and March.
"They will be very contemporary with a little of traditional
styles mixed. The idea is to look good and feel young," said
Goyal pointing to short tunics and slightly flared trousers.
The accent will be on giving more shape to the body with smart necklines
and stylised arms.
"The look is not about an age group, but more a certain mind
set," said designer Anshu Sen whose vibrant-coloured clothes,
are largely casual and easy to wear.
Denim is expected to reinvent in a big way but it would be more decorative
with sequins, beadwork and embroidery.
Graphic designs and razor sharp images will rule the season as black
and white become predominant colours besides dark tones of orange,
brown and blue. |
