Hes probably the best deejay for private parties and when
its the wedding of UK-based steel magnate Lakshmi Mittals
daughter Vanisha, it has to be nothing but the best. So, DJ Aqeel
Ali is off to Paris to play at the Youngsters Night during the wedding
gala on June 18.
Im armed with the best 300 CDs.
Of course Ill play my favourite remix number from Don. Among
the film CDs Im carrying are Kal Ho Naa Ho and Hum Tum,
he says. Ali, who was approached by Amit Bhatias uncle, also
played at the engagement party held in the Capital few weeks ago.
They want Indian music, so were being flown there. The
idea is to offer a great mix that includes UKs bhangra king
Rishi Rich, Beyoncé, hip-hop and film hits. Personally, I
feel theres nothing to beat Punjabi music, says Ali,
who generally likes to goes by what the crowd wants.
Interestingly, our very own DJ Vikrant Pawa
of Nightlife too is leaving for Paris, to play at all the grooms
functions Seherabandhi, Mehndi, Doli lunch and the wedding.
Itll be mostly Bollywood stuff for the Mehndi. Ill
play numbers like Mehndi laga ke rakhna (DDLJ). For the Baraat,
Ill play mostly Punjabi tracks like Mere dil vich by Rishi
Rich from Hum Tum, says Pawa.
Pawa is going by a clear directive: to make
sure everybody has a great time. So each number is well thought-out
and certainly something that will be a crowd puller. For the
Doli lunch Ive selected the number Palki mein hoke sawar chale
re from Khalnayak. After all, we all know that Bollywood music is
the ultimate favourite because it has a song for every occasion,
concludes Pawa.
