Mega wedding kicks off on the right note
By Asmita Aggarwal & Shefali R. Sethi

DJ Aqeel and Vikrant Pawa belted out hip-shaking hits as the jet-setting crowd sipped top of the line Kristal champagne at Cabaret, an upper crust nightclub opposite the Louvre, Paris, to celebrate the Youngsters Night, part of the Amit Bhatia-Vanisha Mittal wedding gala.

Jor Bagh boy Amit looked dapper in a multicoloured Moschino jacket while steel magnate Laxmi Mittal’s daughter Vanisha made heads turn in a black dress at the do that went on till 4 am. The well-heeled set of Delhi, Mumbai and London attended the party that began with a dinner where Italian and French cuisine was served.

Saif Ali Khan, who’s in Paris as a family guest, isn’t likely to perform at the Bollywood Night. “I am in Paris as a guest of the Mittal family,” said Saif. As for the music, DJ Aqeel played his famous Don remix, Tumse milke from Main Hoon Na (probably because he saw the film’s director Farah Khan among the stiletto clad brigade), and Beyoncé’s Naughty. “It couldn’t have been more perfect,” announced Aqeel.

For most people who didn’t know, it’s not easy to pass the vigils and enter this Club. It’s for the select few and only when you are well-dressed and accompanied with the who’s who can you raise a toast at this club. Tikka Shatrujit Singh of Kapurthala, who is going only for the wedding on Tuesday and has been a regular at the Cabaret in Paris for years now, says: “It’s a flashy place, not because of the decor that is minimal but because the rich and famous party there. It’s the right place to be spotted in Paris.”

Coming back to the label flaunting set, those spotted from our city at the do included Kunal Malhotra of Surya Hotels, Amit Rai from the Rai School and Arjun Seth of Pearlpet, among the many other industrialists.
