A well-scripted sangeet ceremony
By Shefali R. Sethi

For Delhi-based fashion designer Suneet Varma, who is in Paris for the grand Mittal wedding, the family sangeet at the 17th century Garden of Tuileries was better than watching any Bollywood film. “It was a perfect romantic film on Amit and Vanisha, where the lead roles were played by Vanisha’s brother Aditya and his wife Megha,” says Varma.

The country’s glitterati was present in full force at the sangeet that started off with the Delhi-based Bhatias performing first, followed by the Mittals who danced to the tune of choreographer Farah Khan. Javed Akhtar had composed the lyrics while Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik performed live at the function where the movers and shakers savoured authentic Indian cuisine prepared by the Taj group.

“Both Aditya and Megha should consider giving Bollywood a shot. Not only did they look cute together, acting as Amit and Vanisha, but also performed extremely well. Their performance was applauded and appreciated by all,” says Varma.

The bride and the groom were dressed in outfits designed by Varma. Vanisha looked stunning in a turquoise tassel lehenga with an off-shoulder blouse while Amit settled for a blue coloured shervani with crystal embroidery as embellishment. The bride and the groom will be wearing Varma’s creations for the big Bollywood night too where the King Khan and Aishwarya Rai will be performing. “It’s a big surprise and everyone will have to wait to see the outfits that I have designed for both of them,” informs Varma.

The Hindujas and Naresh Goyal of Jet Airways were among the 600 guests present at the sangeet. “The whole ambience of this place was quite unreal and truly majestic. Everything from the selection of champagnes to the soft lightings and the food was a combination of fine taste and impeccable style,” reveals Amit Rai of Rai School, who has especially flown down for this six-day extravaganza.

The Mittals sure have spared no expenses to make this a lavish affair. This is one wedding that will be remembered for days to come!
