Jewellery gets a colourful glint
Shefali R. Sethi

One thing that you can’t miss this season is the abundance of colour. It started with clothes and now it seems to have penetrated down to jewellery. Setting a trend was Tanishq, who recently unveiled their lightweight colour collection at the Taj Mahal Hotel on Thursday.

Exquisite designs of neckwear, earrings, pendants and bangles in 22 karat gold embellished with colourful beads, enamel and stones were introduced by Tanishq that will be available at 66 boutiques in 51 cities across the country.

“Globally, colours are a rage and we wanted to be the first ones to capitalise on it here. We’ve used various stones like garnets and sapphire that help one co-ordinate jewellery with their wardrobe. What’s more, they are priced quite affordably as one can get a neckpiece for as low as Rs 10,000,” said Bhuwan Gaurav, Head, North India, Tanishq.

Dressed in a simple cotton sari with a matching lightweight coloured beads set was Veetika Joshi, Brand Manager, Tanishq, who operates from Bangalore. “These pieces of jewellery can be worn by people of all age groups at different occasions. Be it a wedding reception or for a lunch date out with your friends, they’re perfect,”she said.

The launch also saw Calcutta based artist Sudip Roy work his magic on a white canvas to show the various colours that have been used by Tanishq in this collection. Tanishq’s designer Anjali Lal was also present for the launch. “Colours add that extra sparkle to ornaments. And I’m glad this company has taken the first to come up with an entire collection of jewellery in stones, as opposed to others who just have a few pieces ,” she said.

Gold has always been viewed as an investment for Indians and there couldn’t be a better way to invest in this jewellery that is both precious as well as trendy. So gear up to flaunt the latest ornaments in trendy colours this season!
