TIME TO SAY ADIEU IN YEAR-TO-YEAR STYLE
Akash Arora (HT City)

The Lakmé India Fashion Week gets over today! It’s been a long week for these models who can finally breathe easy. “It’s been an extremely hectic week for all of us – running from one fitting session to another, from one makeup room to another, and, of course, doing one show after another,” informs Kingfisher Face of the Year and HT City discovery Udita Goswami. “But all said and done, I enjoyed all this thoroughly. I got kicks out of running such a tight schedule and following this really fast-paced routine,” she adds.

Mumbai-based models Sampada Inamdar and Aditi Gowatrikar have gone through as many as 14 drastic face and hair makeovers during the past few days. Each show they did called for a different look – sometimes their hair was glued upright, while at other instances they were turned into multiple plaits. Sometimes their whole face was painted in the form of a block, while at other instances they had to wear war paint and crystal-studded eyelashes.

“Despite all this we had a great time,” says Aditi. “Last year when the LIFW was in Mumbai, we used to spend half our day travelling from our homes to the venue. We never got to see our parents during those days and the stress was taking its toll on us. This year things have been much better. LIFW guys took care of everything – from providing juices, coffee and tea in our rooms to stocking mineral water in green rooms and make-up rooms,” says Sampada.

According to model Shruti Sharma, wearing so many different outfits during the week was the most exciting. “I was very impressed with the gorgeous outfits our designers have tailored. I loved wearing them on the ramp,” she says. Well, Lakmé India Fashion Week will come back next year. And in a much bigger way, we are sure!
