A SENSUAL BRUSH WITH STYLE
Akash Arora (HT City)

A decade after Demi Moore made headlines after she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair, Mumbai model Tupur Chatterjee made heads turn at the Lakmé India Fashion Week (LIFW) with red roses painted on her back. Only Tupur went for a sexy tieback bustier, unlike Moore who was daring enough to paint herself without clothes! “I did as many as 18 shows during the LIFW and each show called for a drastic makeover. But I really enjoyed painting my back for Neeta Bhargava,” says Tupur.

For the designer who mastered in fine arts from Allahabad University, it was fun painting her models. “Colours depict celebration. So my LIFW line is called Life is a Celebration,” says Bhargava. She was noticed painting her models red, green, purple and black. “It takes four hours to paint a torso. But painting a rose at the back doesn’t take more than half an hour,” she explains.

The designer uses washable poster colours. So, the next morning the model can wear a new look. “But when it comes to clothes I use permanent acid colours imported from China. After the colour has been applied, it’s steamed and then washed and then again steam-ironed,” says the designer.

These colours are sans any chemicals. So our skin-conscious models needn’t worry about the consequences for the body!
