HAIR TO STYLE MASSES OF CURLS & MANES
Akash Arora (HT City)
When it comes to hairstyles,
its not so 22much about fashion but an individuals mindset.
So feels L.A.-based 30-year-old celebrity hairstylist Joseph
Neeko Abriol, who is in Delhi styling celebrities at the on-going
Lakmé India Fashion Week. Ask him to talk about the current
hair trends in the international market and the stylist, who has
worked on celebs like Halle Berry and Naomi Campbell, is fast to
quip: Its all about wash-and-go look across the globe
very practical and easy to maintain. Even Hollywood stars
are mostly going for short hair which they can take care of in their
day-to-day lives without spending much time and effort.
So, is long hair completely out? Certainly
not, says the stylist. Long hair have a timeless, classic
look which will never go out of fashion. But when we say long hair,
we dont mean really long, hair going up to your back. What
looks stunning is the mid-length long hair which have been lightened
with a little bit of trimming, adds the hairstylist, who has
been in the profession for 12 years.
So how has been his experience in the Lakme India
Fashion Week? I was pleasantly surprised last year when I
came for the fashion week for the first time. The designers are
extremely talented and the event have been organised well. The venue
is highly energetic and looks like any other fashion week in the
world, says Neeko, who has almost every part of his body tattooed.
Says one of his companions: We have some excellent tattoo
artists in L.A. and the temptation to get ourselves tattooed was
a bit too hard to resist.
Hairstyle trends here are quite international.
The trend of having ready-to-wear look is being followed by
the masses here, just proving how they are with the times,
says Neeko, who was spotted on the net by Sunsilk a year ago and
instantly invited to do the hairstyling for the LIFW.
