At the Lakme India Fashion Week 2002, 53 designers from across the country will showcase one of two collections Pret-a-Porter (ready-to-wear) and diffusion (a line between ready-to-wear and couture/bridal) collections of the designers through seven days of frenzied business activity in either a Solo, 2-Designer or 3-Designer show.

Recognising this, in 1998, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) was born. Gudda The Unwearable!
Rohit Bal a.k.a. Gudda is a showman. At his show, his dramatic skills took over his designing talent. Balance, Gudda’s pret line for men, was highly unbalanced though it managed to get Neha Dhupia whistling and almost falling off her chair in excitement. Manjiri Singhania, wife of Sanjeev Gupta of Candico summed it up: “Those bold floral or quilted jackets only look good on the ramp. As the Business Head of Lakme Lever and the man who has turned around the image of a 50-year-old cosmetics brand wakme India Fashion Week, Anil Chopra has good reasons to be happy. He hasn’t seen many shows because his work keeps him away, but he’s delighted with the glitzy start given to the event by Delhi’s Anjana Bhargava.
