THE RAMP DOESN'T EXCITE ME ANYMORE: MARC ROBINSON
Khalid M Ansari (Hindustantimes.com)

Marc Robinson, one of India's few fashion phenomenon, can't help getting talked about. He is back at the third LIFW as a special invitee after having sent shockwaves through the fashion industry with his Kamasutra condom ads. Excerpts from an interview:

How does it feel being at a fashion event as an invitee instead of walking the ramp?
It's a privilege to be invited as a guest. Frankly speaking, being on the ramp doesn't excite me any more. In fact, I am looking for something more creative and meaningful. I believe in leaving an impact on my audience and that's the reason why I am taking things easy. Some times these breaks are just what you need to rejuvenate yourself both mentally and physically.

Are men in ghagra the beginning of a new fashion trend?
Indian men are gradually arriving at a new understanding of their bodies. In fact male sensuality is the new phenomenon globally. I am sure Scottish kilts (or skirts for men) is soon going to be rage the world over. It's therefore natural for budding Indian designers to fuse their creative imagination with changing tastes.

But does that mean it is now fashionable to put "Men in disguise"?
Look honestly, isn't it that much more comfortable in lungis or loose pajamas? I have seen men in ghagras and long crinkled skirts move freely around at market places in Milan and Paris. Your clothes should reflect your attitude to life. While these clothes may look feminine, see the kind of comfort they provide. I certainly think they make a great change.

Since lately you have not been doing anything substantial work wise, how do you keep yourself occupied?
I am waiting for the birth of my child that should happen sometime this month. I feel a great change in myself ever since the idea of fatherhood entered my mind. In fact I am so excited that if it's a boy I would love to name him Marc Junior. There's nothing that changes a man more than settling down and building his own family.

What are your plans for the future? Will you stick to modeling or are you exploring other avenues as well?
I am open to anything that satisfies my creative urge. While I have tried my hand at Hindi films along with modeling, I think my personality would be better suited to English movies.
