Ms. Shobhana Bhartia
Vice Chairperson and Editorial Director, HT Media Limited

Ms. Shobhana Bhartia is the Vice Chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media Limited - India’s second largest print company – which publishes two of India’s finest and most widely read newspapers – Hindustan Times and Hindustan. She is the daughter of one of India’s most well known industrialists, Dr. K.K.Birla.

Ms. Bhartia leads a very active work schedule. Apart from her involvement with HT Media, she also holds positions of eminence in a number of organizations. She is the Chairperson of the Press Trust of India and Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Committee, Audit Bureau of Circulations. She is a Member of the Executive Committee, the Indian Newspaper Society and Commonwealth Press Union, London. She is also a Member, Board of Directors of Hero Honda Limited, Apex Committee of Commonwealth Games-2010, Governing Council of India Habitat Centre and Member, Alliance of Civilizations, a high-level group formed by Secretary-General, United Nations, Mr. Kofi A. Annan.
Ms. Bhartia’s involvement in social and charitable institutions is immense. She is a Member, Board of Governors, of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and of the Indian Public School Society (The Doon School), a Member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. She is a Trustee of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust, Press Institute of India, and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan.

As one of India’s leading and influential lady executives, Ms. Bhartia has won numerous accolades. She is the recipient of India’s most respected award – the Padma Shri. She was named the Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in 1996. She was awarded the ICDO National Award Development by the International Cultural Organisation in 1989. She was also awarded the Mahila Shiromani Award in 1990 and the Vijaya Shree Award in 1991. She was honoured with the National Press India Award in 1992 and the National Unity Award in 1993.
Ms. Bhartia is married and has two sons.
