Mr. Hemant Sagar was born in New Delhi to an Indian father and German mother. Having attended schools in both India and Germany, Mr. Sagar moved to Berlin at the age of 15 and entered an industrial apprenticeship at age 18, without completing his school diploma.

He arrived in Paris and visited the Haute Couture School where he met his future partner Mr. Didier Lecoanet with whom he founded 'Lecoanet Hemant' and entered the prestigeous 'Chambre Syndicale de la Couture' in 1984, showing their collections biannually for nearly two decades. They won the prestigeous 'Golden Thimble Prize' for their 1994 Spring Summer Collection.

Having decided to move to India to establish their Ready-to-Wear business in 2001, they now employ nearly 200 people in Gurgaon, outside Delhi and are currently building a state of the art 100,000 sq feet Factory. Their collections are sold through their agent in Paris and also through the shop they are opening in Shanghai this January 2006.

Their factory, though industrial, follows the concept of a Parisian Couture House including Denim, Leather, Embroidery and Jewellery Workshops, their product line includes all Ladies garments from very simple to very elaborate. They are currently entering the Indian Market in collaboration with shops in Delhi and Mumbai.
