While the trial was on a mysterious
Mrs X suddenly emerged on the scene. She claimed that she was another
of those whom Prem had charmed with his sweet talk. Sylvia's plight
reminded her of her own circumstances once upon a time and she just
had to tell Commander Nanavati the truth.
In a letter to Commander Nanavati, Mrs X wrote:
Dear Commander Nanavati,
You will be quite surprised to receive my letter.
But I write to you because I had been in the same situation that
Sylvia was in once.
I am a happily married Anglo-Indian woman with three
children. Fortunately or unfortunately, nature has made me physically
well-endowed and men seem naturally attracted to me.
And thus I became the object of Prem Ahuja's attention.
I met Prem Ahuja at a party. After a couple of drinks at the party,
Prem took me to a room where he stripped me naked and proceeded
to satisfy his lust. I too gave in without any inhibitions.
(Earlier in a letter to Prem, Mrs X had mentioned
that she had been leading a celibate life for the past 5 years.
She wanted to touch her husband, be close to him but he told her
that she was an iceberg. With Prem though, she writes, her inhibitions
melted.)
When I woke up in the morning, I was groggy and had
a headache. I was very ashamed too, at my conduct last night.
Prem gave me a yellow powder and asked me to have
it with a glass of water which made me feel better soon.
Once normal, I vowed never to repeat my behaviour
again but once again when Prem called me I was ready to give in
to his demands. His voice cast a spell over me.
Sometime later, at a party I overheard a South Indian
talking about a mysterious yellow powder which could throw you into
a trance. And then it all came back to me. That day when I had complained
of a hangover from the drink, Prem gave me a yellow powder and asked
me to gulp it down with water
"
I came to the conclusion that Ahuja was probably
drugging me.
I am telling you this because I do not want this
to be repeated with Sylvia.
