On
June 12, 1994 Nicole Brown Simpson and her lover Ronald Goldman were
stabbed to death.
Their bodies were found in the front courtyard of the Nicole's condominium
in Brentwood.
The suspect was O J Sampson, husband of Nicole and one of the greatest
footballers America ever produced. He already has had a history of
domestic violence with Nicole.
O.J. Simpson was notified of the murders while on a business
trip in Chicago. He returned to Los Angeles and was temporarily
handcuffed, and taken in for questioning.
On June 17, about to be arrested for murder, Simpson slipped out
of police's vigilant eye. He escaped in his white Ford Bronco, driven
by friend A.C. Cowlings and was chased by the police.
When he returned to his home on Rockingham, Simpson was taken into
custody.
A long trial began and O.J. pleaded "absolutely 100 percent
not guilty" to the charges. On January 27, 1995 his book, I
Want to Tell You, was published.
The
Jury heard 101 witnesses over 41 days of testimony. On October 3,
1995, the O.J. Simpson trial came under unprecedented media sensation
in the United States. It was also big news in many other parts of
the world.
He was acquitted of the charges of stabbing his ex-wife, Nicole
Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.
Orenthal James Simpson who was popularly known, as "O.J. or
The Juice" was one of the greatest footballers in American
history.
He retired from active sports in 1979 and took a modest career in
sports broadcasting and played minor movie roles.
His film debuts included the famous comedy called "Naked Gun"
and the "The Klansman", where he played a man framed for
murder by the police. He is also known for his TV advertisements
for Hertz Rental Cars.
But more than these, it was O.J. Simpson murder trial that made
him on the most talked about man of his time.
Hardly, any other event in the history of American history was so
minutely reported as the O.J.
Simpson's first marriage had ended in a separation and divorce.
While still married to his first wife, Simpson met 17-year-old waitress,
Nicole Brown and married her in 1985.
Nicole Brown Simpson was reported to have often complained to her
friends and family of beatings by Simpson.
But nobody seems to have taken any notice before the great tragedy
befell on the estranged couple.
