'Spider-Man 2' spins more gold
at box office

Hollywood summer blockbuster "Spider-Man
2" soared high above the North American box office for the second straight
weekend, taking another 45.1 million dollars.
The film, which last week smashed the record for the biggest weekend movie
haul in history, boosted its total haul to 256.4 million dollars, box office
tracker Exhibitor Relations said according to figures showed yesterday.
Last weekend, the web-slinging superhero raked in raked in 115.8 million
dollars in its opening weekend, smashing the record set by its predecessor,
"Spider-Man" in 2002.
In the movie, Tobey Maguire reprises his role as photographer Peter Parker
who develops arachnid powers and his "Spider-Man" alter-ego after
being bitten by a radioactive spider. Kirsten Dunst plays his girlfriend.
"Spidey" last weekend eclipsed its competition, led by comic Will
Ferrell's news spoof "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,"
which opened in second place to a box office haul of 28.4 million dollars.
Medieval action flick "King Arthur," opened in third place, with
a weekend take of 15.1 million dollars. Michael Moore's record-breaking
documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" -- a polemic against President George
W. Bush's invasion of Iraq -- dropped from second place to fourth with 11
million dollars in ticket sales.
The film became the first documentary ever to top the North American box
office chart when it opened three weekends ago, immediately outstripping
all box office records for documentaries.
Spiderman is scared of heights!

Spiderman actor Tobey Maguire has revealed that he suffers from acrophobia,
that is, he is scared of heights!
According to Star magazine, Tobey has admitted that he is extremely scared
of standing on the edge of a building and looking down, but does not mind
swinging from ropes.
