Mary Pierce of France advanced to the third round of Wimbledon on Wednesday by knocking out compatriot Sandrine Testud, the eighth seed, 6-3, 6-4 in 69 minutes.

Former French and Australian Open champion Pierce next meets Laura Granville of the United States for a place in the fourth round.
