London, July 8
Indian ace Mahesh Bhupathi and his Russian partner Elena Likhovtseva
bagged the Wimbledon mixed doubles crown when they outclassed Kevin
Ullyett of Zimbabwe and Daniela Hanutuchova of Slovakia in the final.
The Indo-Russian pair, seeded third, played with remarkable skill
and composure to script a 6-2 1-6 6-1 victory last night against
the fourth seed Ulleyt-Hanutuchova pair.
The third seeds played exhilarating tennis to easily pocket the
opening set 6-2.
Ullyett and Hanutuchkova, exhibiting a never-say-die approach played
aggressive tennis to take the second set 6-1.
With darkness slowly engulfing the Centre Court, Bhupathi and Likhovtseva
played with urgency and never allowed their opponents to settle
down as they captured the deciding set 6-1 with ease.
