Tian Liang, the defending Olympic champion in men's platform and is the synchro platform silver medallist. He won bronze medals at the 2003 World Championships in the same events, and will come to Athens looking to regain his perfect form of Sydney. At Sydney, Tian became the first diver to score more than 700 points since Greg Louganis.

The 21-year-old diver, set a new world record on his way to an Olympic gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. He scored 101.52 points in one attempt at the finals and beat arch rival Dimitry Sautin of Russia to win the gold in the men's 10 metre platform diving. This was the highest score for one dive ever recorded in the history of the Olympic diving competition.
