The administration has started taking all possible measures to ward off any Naxalite attack. PAC jawans have been deployed after constructing a bunker at the main gate of the district jail.

The historical Chunar Fort is also on the hit list of the Naxalites. This fort is being used as the recruitment training center by the PAC and arms and ammunitions in large quantity have been stored in its armoury here. Orders have been issued by the State government through the DGP that special attention should be paid for its protection.

The State government has received information from the Intelligence agencies that the Naxalites are equipped with sophisticated weapons and are in possession of explosives in large quantity. They are preparing for a major attack or attacks in Naxalite affected areas.
