FIVE MAJOR routes around Rajwada became no parking zones from today. District Magistrate Vivek Aggarwal issued the order by invoking provisions of MP Motor Vehicle Act 1994, under which parking has been prohibited in the area from 9 am to 9 pm. The order will remain in force for a month.
Parking of vehicles has thus been banned at Khajuri Bazaar main road and four roads along Subhash multi-storeyed parking. The roads - Shiv Vilas Palace road, Gopal temple road, Shiv temple road, MG Road and Swarn Jayanti Path and Yashoda temple road - laid along Rajwada monument, too, have been prohibited for vehicle parking.
Meanwhile, area MLA Ashwin Joshi has protested the decision of the administration, stating that there was not enough parking space at Subhash parking complex.
“This is because most of complex space has been given for commercial use,” Joshi maintained. He insisted that the administration should have held talks with residents, businessmen and public representatives of the area before taking such a decision.
