The Class XII Boards exam schedule, announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), came in for criticism from Humanities students on Thursday, who described it as being prejudiced against History students.

“The date sheet notified by the CBSE for Class XII Board examinations lacks material objectivity in the sense that the History examination is scheduled for March 3 within 24 hours of the English examination on March 1.

This has created panic among the humanities group student community,” Friends for Education, an NGO working for the uplift of education and spread of civic sense consciousness, said in a statement.

Criticising the datesheet as ‘lacking objectivity and balance’, Feroz Bakht Ahmed of the NGO said, “it is common knowledge that History as a subject at the senior secondary level, has a syllabus that, owing to its vast stretches of knowledge, is extremely voluminous and cumbersome.

That’s why giving the candidates only a margin of 24 hours for revision purposes, is unfair and highly unjust.” Ahmed has sent notices to the CBSE demanding, in larger public interest, to maintain equitability amongst all the candidates of various discursive disciplines.
