18-year-old gangraped in Noida by two, accused arrested
An 18-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two persons in Sector 10 on Tuesday night, police said.
An 18-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two persons in Sector 10 on Tuesday night, police said. The incident took place when the victim was returning home from a relative’s house in Delhi.
Two suspects in the case, Vishnu and Anil, were arrested on Wednesday morning. The accused are known to the woman.
The woman hails from Nepal and is currently living in a rented accommodation in Sector 11.
According to police, she was intercepted by Vishnu and Anil and gangraped inside their closed tea stall. The woman’s brother works in the stall.
“The victim works with a private firm in Sector 10. On Tuesday evening, she left office to visit her relatives in New Kondli area of Delhi. About 12 midnight, she was walking back to her house when the two persons pulled her into their shop and raped her. Her brother, who was sleeping on the upper floor of the stall, heard the commotion and raised an alarm,” said Neeraj Kumar Singh, in charge of the Sector 24 police station where the case has been registered.
Police said the accused left the victim at the stall and fled. Her 16-year-old brother called police.
“As soon as we received the information, a case under sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Sector 24 police station. A team was formed and a manhunt was launched. By Wednesday morning, we identified both the suspects as Vishnu and Anil. They run a tea stall in the locality where the younger brother of the victim works. Their hideouts were raided and they were arrested,” said Singh.
The accused were produced in the court and sent to jail. Police said the complainant was sent for medical examination. The reports are awaited.
Police said Vishnu hails from Agra and Anil from Faridabad. Both live in a rented accommodation and had employed the victim’s brother at their shop.
