In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old girl has alleged that she was raped by her friend in the washroom of a mall on Saturday. The victim, a resident of Badarpur area of Delhi, had approached Saket police station and filed a Zero FIR against his friend identified as Yogesh Kumar. The police arrested Yogesh following the FIR. He is a resident of Jaitpur in Delhi.

“The victim was sent for medico-legal examination where rape was confirmed and subsequently the accused was arrested. As the incident had taken place in Noida, the case was transferred to the Sector 39 police station for further investigation,” said a senior police official.

According to police, the victim is a law student and was in a live-in relation with the accused for last one year. They had broken up in January this year.

“In her statement, the victim said that the accused had called her to meet at The Great India Place mall on Saturday. She said he raped her in one of the washrooms of the mall,” he added.

The police, however, said that they will check the CCTV footage at the mall.

“The mall witnesses a heavy foot fall during weekends moreover they have a number of private security guards. It is strange that the incident remained unnoticed. We will verify victim’s statement. We will also call the security guards for their statements,” the official added.
