Industrial development minister Satish Mahana said that the new government in the state will focus on setting up industries in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas, unlike the previous government that had the policy of allotting land to realtors.
In a meeting with the press during his visit to Noida on Monday, he further said that the government will follow the Gujarat and Maharashtra models to boost industrialisation in the region to create jobs for the youth.
“As its name suggests, the New Okhla industrial development authority, or Noida, was meant to set up industries to create jobs for farmers whose land was acquired for urbanisation. However, hardly any industry was set up in the past 15 years . Only residential development has taken place. We will form a new policy to fuel industrial growth like the BJP governments have done in Gujarat, Maharashtra and other states,” said Mahana, during his first visit to Noida after being sworn in.
The minister said Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas are very important for this government and his focus would be to revive industrial development in these three areas.
Besides aiming for holistic development of the three areas, he also promised a transparent working environment that will serve public interest. The minister also met senior officials of the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna expressway industrial development authorities and the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) to take stock of their ongoing infrastructure projects.
Even as he promised to eradicate corruption, he asked officials to adhere to project deadlines and directed them to implement the citizen’s charter.
“We are monitoring performance of every official and will not hesitate to take tough action against corrupt officials if we find proof against them. We will take all actions to serve the welfare of the general public,” he said
State minister (independent charge) of cane development and sugar mills, industrial development, Suresh Rana and newly elected Noida MLA Pankaj Singh were also present with Mahana, apart from other party leaders, when he took a project review meeting with the officials of the three authorities.
“Industry is the backbone of economic growth of the country because it provides employment for the youth. Our Central leaders have appointed me to create jobs. In the last 15 years there was no development, in fact I should say the development was in negative - ‘minus’ development,” said Mahana.
He also added that chief minister Yogi Adityanath will provide 24-hour power supply, better law and order and a corruption-free system to meet the expectations of the people.
“Noida has been synonymous with corruption because of the deeds of the previous governments in the state. We will work with new zeal, new energy and new policies to take Noida on the path of development. In next one to two years, we will bring huge investment to this region for holistic development of all communities,” said Mahana, who promised that he will keep visiting Noida to ensure that a transparent system is in place.
