The body of an unidentified woman suspected to have been murdered, was found lying by the road side close to the Mall Of India near Sector 18 area Wednesday morning, police said. The incident came to light after some passersby informed the police about a suspicious looking sack.
“The body was found in a sack cloth. The deceased was wearing a black suit. There was an injury mark on the head, which appears to be fatal,” said Rashid Ali, station house officer, Sector 20 police station.
Police said the name ‘Shahida’ was tattooed on one hand of the deceased who was aged around 40 years.
“Circumstantial evidences suggest murder. A case was registered with Sector 20 police station and a team was constituted to investigate the matter. The body was sent for post-mortem, reports of which are awaited,” said Ali.
Police said the deceased had henna on her both hands.
“No signs of scuffle were found at the spot. It seems like somebody dumped the body here. We are checking footage of CCTV cameras to get a clue of the suspects,” said Ali.
