A Bollywood actor approached the Ghaziabad police on Sunday and forwarded a written complaint against her former boyfriend.

The woman has alleged that her ex-boyfriend has threatened to make their intimate videos and her pictures public by posting them on the Internet if she does not pay him Rs 50 lakh.

According to the actor, an intimate video that was made when the two were in a nine-year long relationship was recently posted on a social networking site. She has named Sameer, who hails from Bulandshahr, as the suspect.

“The time when the video was shot, I was still a student. It is the same person who posted the video on social networking sites. Only he can have access to such personal videos and pictures since we were in a relationship. Sameer has also sent me a message from an unknown number and asked me to pay Rs 50 lakh by April 5 failing which, he will post other videos on the Internet,” she said.

“I suspect this has been done to harm my career prospects since one of my movies has just released. I have acted in two films and I will also appear in some music videos,” the 24-year-old said.

The actor said that after the first video was posted online, she approached the cyber crime cell of the Mumbai Police. She was asked to approach the Ghaziabad police.

“Since I hail from Ghaziabad, I have forwarded a written complaint to the police who have assured me of a speedy investigation. My image will be completely tarnished if more such videos are posted online,” she said.

“We are conducting an inquiry and also trying to trace the origin of the video. After inquiry, we will register an FIR and take strict legal action against the suspect,” said Salman Taj, superintendent of police (city), Ghaziabad.
