An 18-year-old school student from Jewar succumbed to injuries at Kailash Hospital in Noida on Friday after he was allegedly beaten up by his classmates.
Although the police have registered a case of murder against two men, they are probing the matter with caution as they believe that an accident could have been the reason for the boy’s death.
Nakul Singh, a resident of Nimka village, was admitted with a grievous head injury at Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida on Tuesday. However, the hospital referred him to their main hospital in Noida as the injury was too serious. On Friday, Nakul died of his injuries.
“Nakul was declared dead by the doctors of Kailash Hospital, Noida, on Friday morning. He was admitted under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday and his father has alleged that he was beaten up by his friends,” said Sudhir Tyagi, station house officer, Jewar.
He was a class 12 student of government senior secondary school and, according to his father Bhim Singh, four of his classmates had allegedly thrashed him while he was returning from school.
After his death, the police have registered a case against two men, Akash and Sonu, on charges of killing their their classmate.
“Though his father kept saying that four men thrashed his son, he has named Akash and Sonu as prime accused. We registered a case under Section 304 of the IPC against the duo,” Tyagi said.
“Nakul’s head injury can also be due to an accident as the body had injury marks only on the head. Until postmortem results are out, we cannot be sure that of the cause of death,” Tyagi said.
Both Akash and Sonu are likely to be arrested tomorrow if the postmortem results reveal that the head injury due to assault.
