Suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal was not present at the site where the wall of a mosque was demolished, a local intelligence unit (LIU) report says.

The report also rejects the possibility of breach of peace due to the demolition, a major charge against Nagpal in the chargesheet served on her by the UP government.

UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had said that Nagpal was suspended on the basis of the LIU report.

The report released on July 27 to the state government says: "There was no possibility of communal tension pertaining to the demolition of an under-construction mosque wall in Greater Noida's Kadalpur village. Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Jewar Bachchu Singh along with police officer Wasim Khan had gone to halt the construction on government land as it was being built without due permission."

The LIU report does not mention that Nagpal was present when the wall was taken down.

Bachu Singh told HT that even he was not there and the LIU has mentioned his name "by mistake".

"Kadalpur village does not come in Jewar division’s jurisdiction. It comes under Greater Noida’s Sadar division. I do not know where Kadalpur is located in Gautam Budh Nagar district. The LIU has made a huge error," Bachchu Singh told HT on Monday, trashing the LIU report.

Meanwhile, UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday directed Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate to transfer Bachchu Singh to Sadar division from Jewar. Anju Lata will replace Singh in Jewar.

District magistrate Ravikant Singh said, "It is an administrative decision. Drawing inferences is not right."

Mahaveer Singh, the LIU officer who made the report, said: "I don’t know how this error cropped up," before hanging up the phone.
