The city police have arrested four alleged members of the notorious Anil Dujana gang. The accused, identified as Kapil, Rakesh, Ramesh and Rohit, were arrested following a brief encounter on Friday.
“Following intelligence inputs, a team was deputed near the Dujana canal. One suspect was spotted travelling on a motorcycle. When signalled to stop, he fled the spot. The officials, however, intercepted and arrested him immediately,” said a senior official from the Greater Noida police.
The accused, identified as Ramesh, failed to produce any document related to the vehicle he was riding, police said.
“It was found that he was travelling on a stolen motorcycle. During his interrogation, he revealed that he works for the Anil Dujana gang,” said the official.
“Following his statement, a team rushed to his hideout to nab the rest of his accomplices,” he added.
After a brief encounter, accused Kapil, Rakesh and Rohit were arrested, according to the police.
“We have also recovered three country-made .315 bore pistols, one .12 bore gun, five live cartridges and 4.25 kilogram of marijuana from their possession,” the official added.
Police said the accused were working with the Dujana gang and were involved in stealing and selling motorcycles and smuggling contraband. The police suspect that the accused are also involved in cases of extortion in the Greater Noida area.
“The accused were produced in court and sent to jail. The matter is under investigation. More members of this gang will be arrested soon,” the official added.
