The police on Saturday arrested a 28-year-old man who allegedly murdered his live-in partner after she refused to have sex with him and his friend, on the night of March 13. The woman’s body, with a missing right eye, was discovered inside a plastic bag near Pusha Garden in Loni on March 14.
The police arrested Sunny Kumar, the prime suspect, with whom she had been staying for six to seven months.
“On the night of the incident, Sunny had invited his friend Amit to their house and both had drinks after bringing several bottles of beer along. After getting drunk, Sunny forced the woman to have sex with him and his friend, but she resisted for around half an hour. Sunny pushed her in a fit of rage and she lost her balance, hitting the corner of a metal box and puncturing her right eye,” said Srikant Prajapati, circle officer, Loni.
He added that the two men later repeatedly hit her on the head with beer bottles until she died. They then bundled her body in a plastic bag and dumped it at a secluded spot around four to five km away, where locals found it the next day, police added.
After police started an investigation, the woman’s sister arrived and identified the body. She named Sunny as a suspect and he was arrested on Saturday. However, his friend is still absconding. A case of murder has been lodged at Loni Border police station.
“They carried the body on a bicycle on the night of the incident. We have recovered the bicycle and the blood-stained remains of the beer bottles with which the woman was repeatedly hit,” Prajapati said.
The victim, who was estranged from her husband, hailed from Bihar and met Sunny at Khajuri Khas area of Delhi last year after which they decided to stay together at his house at Tilak Ram Colony in Loni, the police said.
